Hey folks,

Happy New Year! I’m really looking forward to 2017. It’s going to a great year. For starters I’m embarking on a series of shows throughout the year, and the production of a new ep in the spring and I’ll be giving away a painting from my facebook page as part of the release.

My next show is this Friday, January 6, at the Back Porch Bar and Grill – 710 Palafox St in Pensacola. If you’re in the area come on out and party with us. Or if you live further away and you’d like me to visit your town, let know where to play and I’ll consider putting it on my tour list for 2017.

You can keep up with me by following me on facebook, https://twitter.com/Lojah" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">twitter, and https://www.instagram.com/j.lojah/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">instagram or visit Lojah.com for access to my music and art. Hey folks,

I almost can’t believe another year has gone by and so much has changed, but it feels really good to be moving forward into the next phase of life.

I have a couple 2017 shows booked already and a few more tentative dates coming up. If you’re in the Pensacola area you should come hang out.

2017 Dates

Jan 6, Twelfth Night at the Back Porch Bar and Grill

March 17, St. Patrick’s Day at the Back Porch Bar and Grill

Check Lojah.com for details.

In the spirit of the season you can swing by the Moody View and read my most recent post on the Yuletide and the Real Reason for the Season. After that there are some interesting subjects on Eight Christmas Characters Most Americans Don’t Know, and Wassailing, the Roots of a Christmas Tradition.

I wish you all a great Yuletide season and I look forward to seeing you in the coming year.

Until Next time,

Spring Greeting

Hello friends and family!

Spring is finally here and I think the weather is actually going to stick around. It has been a little while since I last sent out an update, because I’ve been so heavily involved in working for Veterans Healthcare reform, and some pretty significant life changes that I let my regular updates slip by.

Well, I’m back at it again. So far 2016 is proving to be a great year for me and I have some really cool updates to share with you.

For starters I opened up my artist page on Lojah.com where you can view and purchase my personally hand painted artwork, inspired by Indigenism, nature, arcane symbolism and personal vision. It’s still in its formative stages but it’s going to be great as it grows.

I consolidated my old blogs into a single blog called The Moody View, easier to follow and keep track of. It’s a place where I talk about art, music, culture and modern critiques. I’ll be covering a lot of my experiences as I create more art and further explore life.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Until Next time,

I Started Painting: My Four Turtles

I recently started painting. As a creative person I’ve dabbled in and experimented with several different media over the years. Along with performing arts, I’ve drawn and sketched avidly throughout most of my life and I’ve always wanted to try my hand at painting, a serious attempt far more than dabbling, but I never knew where to start and was always too busy with other pursuits to really explore this particular (read more at the MoodyView.)

St. Patricks Day Greeting

Posted by Lojah on March 11, 2014 at 11:25 PM Comments comments (0)

St. Patrick's Day is here again and spring is just around the corner.  It’s a good time to be Irish.  I’ll be performing at O’Connor’s Irish Pub in Navarre on March 17, from 4:00-6:30.  Come out and celebrate the Island.

I am also working with Concerned Veterans for America of Pensacola this season, helping to draw attention to several veterans issues such as the VA backlog, homelessness, and an alarmingly high suicide rate.  We will be hosting several events.  If you’d like to take part in some activities and some action contact me or CVA Pensacola and let us know.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Until Next time,

Lojah New Years 2014 Update

Posted by Lojah on January 11, 2014 at 5:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Hello friends and family of Lojah!

I hope you’re having an outstanding New Year!  With the Yule-tide behind us we can now focus on our goals for the year ahead.

I’ll be heading into the studio this month to start production of my next ep; Tripping on Roots, as well as heading up another semester of Current Cultural Issues and giving my students a clear background on the Irish Republican Army, the American Indian Movement, Idle No More, and Indigenous struggles in general.

I thought you would be interested to know that January 17th of this year is the 221st anniversary of the death of the Creek Emperor Alexander MacGillivray.  He was buried in downtown Pensacola near what today is Garden Street, somewhere in the vicinity of the courthouse.  More information on this remarkable Creek leader can be found here.

Catch me Live!

My next performance will be on January 18, at O’Connor’s Irish Pub and Grill in Navarre, beginning at 7:30pm.  It’s their 1-year anniversary party, so come out for an Irish-heavy evening of Lojah’s Creolized Roots Music.  I will also be performing at O’Connor’s on St. Patrick’s Day this year as well. Visit www.Lojah.com for more details.

Yuletide Update

“Wassail! Wassail! all over the town,
Our toast it is white, our ale it is brown,
So here my good fellows, I drink to thee,
health, and to hearth and each fruit-bearing tree.”

(English traditional)

WaesHail, friends and family!

Here, I sit contemplating Vikings.  There is something about winter that brings that part out of me in concentrated form.  Maybe it’s the cold weather on the coast that does it.  Or maybe it’s the long ships and war hammers.

As the days have continued to grow shorter and colder, and so much of the natural world seems barren and dormant, we’re inspired to look toward the New Year’s reemerging.  With the coming of the solstice day a promise is made that once again the days will grow longer and bloom into spring.  Such is the solar cycle.  And in these coldest days of the Yuletide, the candles are lit and the hearth fires burn to remind us of the returning sun.

2013 was a pivotal year for me.  Thank you guys for supporting me, especially those of you that come out to the shows sing along and holler at me.  I have some exciting plans for 2014, with another set of recordings due out in spring as well as a few other projects in the works, so keep an ear out.  I’ll also be teaching anthropology classes at the University of West Florida again in the spring, educating young minds on AIM and the IRA, as well as other topics.  It’s going to be an expansive year.

As a Yuletide gift to you, I’m giving away Free MP3 downloads for an undetermined amount of time.  Visit the music page now and download all four tracks of my rough-cut ep Pub Songs on Palafox.  With new plans slated for 2014, I wanted to make these tunes available to you.

You can also visit me at Facebook for more updates.

Until Next time,

Fall gigs at O'Conner's Irish Pub and Grill, Navarre

Posted by Lojah on August 14, 2013 at 3:40 AM Comments comments (0)

This past weekend I played at O’Conner’s Irish Pub and Grill in Navarre Florida.  It went over really well.  It’s a nice little restaurant and pub and I think I’m going to enjoy playing there.

I’ll be playing at O’Connor’s several more times this fall and probably throughout the winter too.  Right now I am booked there for September 14th and 28th.  It also looks like I’ll be playing there on St. Patrick’s Day 2014 as well - more details on that later.

Things are looking good.

August Update and O'Connor's Irish Pub

Posted by Lojah on August 5, 2013 at 4:40 PM Comments comments (0)

Hello everyone.  Happy August.

Wow, can you believe that summer is almost over?  As we enter the harvest season, it’s a good time to take inventory of the fruits of the past season.  And such a great season it has been.  Thanks to each one of you that has shown up to support me in my various events!

My next performance will be on August 10, at O’Connor’s Irish Pub and Grill in Navarre, beginning at 7pm (visit www.Lojah.com for more details).  So, come out this Saturday to O’Connor’s for an Irish heavy night of Lojah’s Creolized Roots Music!

Thanks again, and see you there.

And don’t forget to like me on Facebook.
